My artistic goal is to create a harmonious world in painting by combining the two different styles of art: Euro-American and Japanese. I often use Japanese compositional devices such as calligraphic lines, decorative patterns and asymmetrical balance in my western-painterly-style painting. My still life and floral compositions are combination of real life and my imagination. I sometimes set up flowers or other objects to create new compositions. Other times I draw small sketches and/ or take reference photographs of any objects that attract me. I develop my ideas through a series of sketches. Then I start painting. |
